Our host is looking forward to welcome you personally. He has been representing the traditional rhodian cuisine for over 33 years and is the heart of our Smaragd. Because of his jobs in different countrys all over the world Georgios E. Markou speaks good english and german. Of course his greek is perfect and even a little conversation in spanish or italian is possible with him.

Over 30 years ago Georgios and his wife Tsambika had the idea to go back home to Psinthos and set up a rhodian restaurant with their traditional recipes and manufacturing processes handed down over the generations. And so the Smaragd was born.

and homemade greek cuisine. And you will definetily enjoy it. Georgios E. Markou personally stands for dishes only made out of special chosen and best quality ingredients. This starts with self baked bread in our traditional oven, followed by fresh fruits from own cultivation and ends up in own and self produced olive oil and natural herbs and spicery out of this region. These culinary delights will be completed with warm, genuine hospitality. Everybody is welcome to experience it. So just have a talk with Georgios, he can give you really great hints for places around this area. He knows the island like the back of his hand. Or just chill and chat with him a little while in front of the cosy platia and the centuries old olive tree. Enjoy the typical greek savoir-vivre with a glas of country wine, greek coffee or a cold ouzo.
